An Autumn Event

broken image

Which oil whispers “autumn” to you most audibly? For me, dōTERRA® Cinnamon Bark definitely tops the list of aromas that characterize fall. I’m super excited to share some cozy, harvest-themed ideas that you can easily combine to create a fabulous fall DIY event with your friends! The autumn event I have in mind has three simple steps: set the table, serve a treat, and share your oils. Picture a crisp, chilly afternoon or evening and a small group of friends who enjoy pleasant aromatics and sweet conversation together. You welcome them into your home where they experience inviting, balancing aromas and find out practical ways to use essential oils.

Step one is to set the table with a rustic and beautiful decoration. You’ll fill a hollowed pumpkin with autumn foliage and cut flowers, using a few drops of Cinnamon Bark and Clove to keep your water fresh and your flowers vibrant. To create the Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece, you’ll need:

• 1 pumpkin

• 1 block floral foam

• foliage and flowers for arranging

• 2 drops Cinnamon Bark oil

• 4 drops Clove oil

• florist’s tape (optional)

Carve a hole around the stem of the pumpkin about the size of your floral foam block. Using a spoon or your fingers, scoop out as much of the pumpkin seeds and fiber as possible. Fill a wide bowl with water, adding the Cinnamon and Clove oils. Set foam block on the surface of the water and allow to soak until wet all the way through. Trim the foam block to fit inside your pumpkin. If needed, secure foam in place with florist’s tape. Arrange foliage and flowers as desired, trimming stems at an angle to sharpen them before pushing firmly into the foam.

Onto this beautifully set table you can present the following cake as a deliciously healthy alternative to traditional sugary teacakes. Serve with warm mugs of apple cider! To make Cinnamon Apple Cake, you’ll need:

• 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

• 2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder

• 3/4 cup raw sugar

• 1/2 cup olive oil

• 1/2 cup orange juice

• 1/2 cup walnuts

• 2 small apples, grated

• 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

• 1 drop Cinnamon Bark oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat cake tin with olive oil. Mix together flour, ground cinnamon, and baking powder. Set aside. Grate apples and set them aside. In a large bowl, add sugar, olive oil, and Cinnamon Bark oil. Mix together using a handheld or free-standing mixer. Add the flour mix and the orange juice alternately to the mixture of sugar and oil. Note that the mixture will look a little dry before the apples are added. Add the apples and walnuts, folding in gently with a spoon until just combined. Pour into baking dish and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted and removed clean. Slice and enjoy right out of the oven!

Now that you’ve decorated and baked, all that remains is to make sure your guests have the opportunity to take some dōTERRA home with them! Help them head into the holiday season feeling relaxed with samples of Balance® grounding blend. If you want to lead them in a step- by-step creation at your table, this harmonious blend is perfect to use in recipes for shower tablets, lotion bars, and any other spa-like product. The Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece detailed above also makes for a fun make-and-take. Your autumn event is sure to be a sensation!
